Live At Tee Roy’s Desk: Curtis Salgado [VIDEO]

When we started our concert series “Live At Tee Roy’s Desk”, our primary goal was to give the musicians of Casper a chance to show their skills to the world. Today, a Blues icon stopped by the studio…and brought the world to us!

Anyone who knows me knows I am a HUGE fan of the blues. For the past 11 years, I’ve been hosting a three hour Sunday Night Blues Show on 107.9 The River. During that time, I’ve had a chance to interview some of the Blues’ top ambassadors. BB King, Bobby Rush, Joe Bonamassa, Taj Mahal, Buddy Guy…I’ve had more than my fair share of killer B.S. sessions with some of the genre’s top artists, but – by far – watching Curtis Salgado bust out an old Sonny Boy Williamson tune from my desk is the shinning moment I’ll brag about for years to come!

Now, you may be asking yourself “Why in the hell would you have him play at your desk when you’re surrounded by studios?”

We thought it would be a pretty cool concept. Bring in a musician, sit them in an office setting, and let them do their thing. Curtis is not only the inspiration behind the Blues Brothers, but he’s one of the coolest cats you’ll ever meet. Check out his website here.

Curtis Salgado

Salgado’s been perfecting his craft since he first began playing professionally in the late 1960s. He fronted his own group, The Nighthawks, inspired John Belushi to create The Blues Brothers, was co-star of The Robert Cray Band and sang and toured with Roomful Of Blues. He released his first of eight solo albums in 1991, hitting the road hard year after year. Salgado and his band toured with The Steve Miller Band and Curtis spent a summer singing with Santana before being sidelined by serious health issues in 2006. He’s battled all the way back, and, after a full and complete recovery, has been tearing up concert stages all over the country….
