Let The Winter Fun Officially Begin In Yellowstone

Winter begins on December 21^st and Christmas will have some people taking vacation days to explore the colder side of one of the most beautiful places on earth.

With more than 10,000 thermal features and more than half the world’s geysers, Yellowstone National Park is coming off of two years of record high visitation with over 4 million summer visitors. That can stress budgets and services and can stress those who come to enjoy the peaceful and magnificent beauty of America’s first national park. So why not visit some of the 2.2 million acres while the crowds are gone?

Park roads are now open for motorized oversnow travel via interior roads on commercially-guided snowmobiles and snowcoaches from the North, West, and South Entrances. Visitors with proper permits can also take part in the non-commercially Guided Snowmobile Access Program.

Snow coaches take visitors on a four-hour guided trip twice a day from Mammoth Hot Springs to Old Faithful, operating from Dec. 16 through Feb. 27, 2017.

Visitors should know that weather is extremely unpredictable and road closures or delays can occur with little or no warning. Be prepared with emergency survival equipment and dress for outside activities in extremely cold weather.
