A family in Indianapolis, Indiana faced a moment that all loving parents dread. Fortunately, their dog spared them from the ultimate horror.

Two unidentified suspects tried to kidnap a three-month-old baby, but the family's dog prevented them from leaving with the little girl, according to WISHTV.com.

The armed kidnappers broke into the home of Nayeli Garzon-Jimenez and Adolfo Angeles-Morales early last week. Angeles-Morales says he was at work and happened to be talking to his wife at the time of the break-in.

The suspects produced a weapon and demanded money from the woman. When she told them she didn't have any money, one of the suspects grabbed her baby. The mother tried to fight the suspect off, but the other grabbed her and hit her with his gun.

When the suspect with the baby tried to flee the scene through the back door, the family dog intercepted them in the backyard. The barking and snarling dog was such a fearsome sight, it scared the suspect into heading toward the front door instead, tossing the baby back to her mother as he fled.

Police have not identified or arrested the suspects but were able to obtain descriptions from the mother and other witnesses.
