Harold Hill is a con man, not a band leader. The musical, which premiered on Broadway in 1957 tells the story of a con man who poses as a band leader while visiting an Iowa town. A local librarian is skeptical of this new arrival but begins to fall for him anyway. The show spawned a 1962 film that won an Oscar and received five additional nominations.
