John Fogerty on Creedence Clearwater Revival Reunion: ‘If Someone Started Talking, I’d Sit Down Long Enough to Listen’

As John Fogerty gears up to perform entire classic Creedence Clearwater Revival albums from start to finish at select solo concerts in November, he continues to ponder the possibility of someday reuniting with surviving CCR members Stu Cook and Doug Clifford.

Back in the summer, Fogerty was vague about what influenced his thinking, but he was most certainly intrigued by the idea of teaming up again with bassist Cook and drummer Clifford. He told the Calgary Herald, “if someone started talking, I’d sit still long enough to listen.”

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Fogerty went into depth about how he’s lost much of his past anger — thanks to his family and especially wife Julie — and that in turn has opened his mind to a possible CCR reunion.

“I don’t know what stars would have to line up for that to happen,” the singer/songwriter/guitarist said. “I’m saying it’s possible, yeah. I think the call would maybe have to come from outside the realm. Somebody would have to get me to look at things in a fresh way.”

The hypothetical call to reunite probably won’t be coming from Clifford, who in recent years has kept busy performing with Cook as part of Creedence Clearwater Revisited. Clifford, who recently told us he is aware of Fogerty “softening” his longtime no-reunion stance, says getting back together “is not something that’s in the forefront of my thoughts.”
