After a late race re-start, Jimmie Johnson pulled away to win the STP Gas Booster 500 at Martinsville Speedway. This is Johnson's second win of the season. Johnson now has 62 NASCAR Sprint Cup wins, and this is his eighth win at Martinsville.

Johnson was strong all day leading 346 of the 500 laps, and in the process regains the points lead from teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. who finished two laps down in the 24th postition. In the end, Johnson for the win followed by Clint Boyer in second, Johnson's teammates Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne finished third and fourth, with Kyle Busch rounding out the top five.
