Newsday is reporting that Billy Joel will sing the National Anthem before the Mets take on the Royals in World Series Game 3.

During his show last week at Madison Square Garden, Billy performed "Meet the Mets," in a show of hometown pride, no doubt.

Game 3 will be Friday night at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets. The Rock Hall of Famer is no stranger, pardon the pun, to the World Series.

Joel, a Long Island native, sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" before Game 2 of the 1986 World Series between the Mets and the Boston Red Sox. Then, in 2000, he sang the anthem prior to Game 1 of the World Series when the Mets took on the New York Yankees.  In addition, the Mets have been showcasing Billy's classic tune "Piano Man" this season as a sing-along song during the 8th inning of the team's home games.

Game three of the World Series can be heard on AM 1400 ESPN and radioPup.
