You might want to start stocking up on canned goods and elaborate wigs, because the dystopian future of 'The Hunger Games' might be here sooner than we thought. We've just learned that The CW has greenlit a new reality survival series entitled 'The Hunt,' whose premise should seem awfully familiar to fans of the worldwide novel phenomenon. Will the odds be ever in its favor? Find out who will face 'The Hunt' inside!

It's no surprise to see TV and film attempt to emulate the blockbuster success of 'The Hunger Games,' what with its youth appeal and plausible production values. Last season we heard The CW was looking to develop drama pilot 'The Selection,' which steered close to 'The Hunger Games' dystopian future premise, and now we're seeing a second attempt. Rather than another drama however, the network has chosen to focus on the reality side to create 'The Hunt,' according to Deadline.

From the official description of 'The Hunt,' currently being targeted for a summer 2013 release:

THE HUNT is an intense wilderness competition taking place over one month, as 12 teams of two are provided no food, water, or shelter, but must compete in a game where they’ll rely on their physicality, survival skills, and hunting skills to endure their conditions, capture one another, and ultimately win a huge cash prize.

Additionally, the network has also approved production of a new dating series to be titled 'Perfect Score,' awarding both dates and prizes to contestants who select their perfect compatibility matches. Fellow CW reality efforts 'Breaking Pointe' and 'Oh, Sit!' have also been renewed for second seasons.

What say you? Has The CW had a capital idea in re-envisioning 'The Hunger Games' as a reality competition, or will 'The Hunt' leave viewers hungry? Give us your thoughts in the comments!
