This Day In Rock: Blind Faith Play Their First Gig: To 100,000 people.

I was a punk kid in 1969. I was working at the only rock and roll radio station in the city. And the plethora of incredible bands and the variety of rock music made my job of playing rock and roll from seven to midnight pure radio heaven. However as certain bands began to crumble and reform into "super groups" the super groups weren't making it on to top 40 AM rock stations. There were no real rock FM stations yet. One super group that formed, burned brightly, and then burned out after only one LP was Blind Faith. I talked about it tonight on my show. Steve Winwood from Traffic, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker from Cream. How could this go wrong? It did. Big egos. Steve Winwood said it best. " “Anyhow, Blind Faith came into being. And there were immediate problems – with egos, with management and organization. Those are all massive problems for a supergroup.
