While Christmas and the rest of the holiday season may be the most wonderful time of the year, it can also be the most dangerous.

Between the end of November and the early part of January are the worst times of the year for home burglaries, vehicle and identity theft. According to a study done by The Telegraph, the week of Christmas is usually a time when thieves take a break. However, the days before and after the festive yuletide holiday are prime crime time.

The Criminal Justice Degree Guide listed the top five as some of the more common crimes around this time of year:

  • Identity Theft
  • Shoplifting
  • Robbery
  • Drunk Driving
  • Vehicle Theft

Home Burglaries ranked 7th on the top 10. We that in mind, always remember to lock you your doors to both your home and you vehicles at all times. There are plenty of very easy steps you can take to make sure you don't end up a victim over the holiday season.
