In case you haven't noticed, the weather is getting warmer, which means us motorcycle riders are starting to hit the roads. Could you please do us all a favor, and pay attention?

Yesterday, I grabbed my bike out of storage. On the way home, I saw a cop texting, a woman putting on lipstick, was almost ran over by a car switching lanes, and had two different cars cut me off...which almost resulted in a motorcycle right up their rear end. This was all in 10 minutes.

What's sad is, this is not an anomaly...it's the norm.

As a rider, you get used to this, and you learn how to ride extremely defensively. I'll admit that there are a select few of those douche-bag bikers that are too busy with looking cool, going fast, or showing off. These people are not to be confused with the majority of us that just enjoy the freedom of the ride.

All we ask is you do what you were trained to do when you first learned how to drive...keep 100% of your attention on the road. Every time you get behind the wheel of that 2000 pound deathtrap, you have everybody else's life in your hands. When you hit another car, they have a roll cage, airbags, and a bunch of steel to soften the blow.

Motorcyclists have the asphalt. A little attention could go a long way in saving a life.
