Seems a lot of people bail out of Wyoming to head south to Fort Collins and other points in Colorado to have fun. I think we need to up our game here. Here’s one step we can take. We can help decide if we could we use a little more life in downtown Cheyenne. The question as to whether Cheyenne can benefit from Artspace could be decided soon.

People involved in the arts, as well as area artists are being asked to take an online, Artspace Artists Market Survey starting February 26th, and the results could decide whether there’s enough interest in the capitol city to support Artspace, which, according to the Wyoming Tribune Eagle, is “a private, non profit organization based in Minneapolis that builds new construction and renovates old buildings so that artists can live and work there.”

Artists and people in the arts have eight weeks to take the survey after the kickoff, which will be February 26th from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Asher-WyomingArtsCenterat 500 West 15th Street.

There will be special guest speakers including Felicia Harmon, who’s a consultant for Artspace from Loveland, Colorado.

What do you think should be done with downtown Cheyenne to create more interest?

I say let’s support artists, like one of my favorite Wyoming Photographers, Dana Gage. What say you?
