Bear researchers plan to trap grizzlies in Yellowstone National Park over the next several months.

An inter-agency study team will bait and trap the bears at remote parts of the park. These are federally-protected animals and will be given anesthesia and fitted with radio-collars for study.

Back country users should look for and heed signs posted at access points and stay clear of the areas in order to let the research provide the best results says the Flathead Beacon.

The three month, three state study will run from April 15th through July 15th in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.

While Grizzly numbers are healthy, Cutthroat trout and white-bark pine are stressed and could have an impact, according to the Jackson Hole News & Guide. They make a good case for keeping Grizzlies on the endangered list.

Black Bears will eventually be studied as well.
