Deadheads, hot on the heels of the recently announced Dead & Company's Denver concerts, here's your chance to convince the National Football League to book the band for the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show.

The idea is the brainchild of diehard deadhead Douglas Machado, who recently launched an online petition at Change.org.

The petition reads, "To commemorate 50 years of Super Bowl history, what better group of musical engineers to set precedence during such an occasion, who are also celebrating 50 years of historical excellence, than the remaining members of The Grateful Dead!"

It goes on to note that Super Bowl 50 will be held in Santa Clara, California, just miles away from the Grateful Dead's hometown of San Francisco. Machado is hoping to collect 5,000 signatures for the petition. So far, over 2,000 Deadheads from across the world have pledged their support.
