In a bit of a surprising move, the Wyoming Cowgirls are losing two more players than was originally expected after the 2012-13 season wrapped up on March 21st. University of Wyoming head women’s basketball coach Joe Legerski announced Tuesday that forward Aubry Boehme and guard Alison Gorrell have decided not to return to the Wyoming basketball program next season to pursue other opportunities.

“Alison and Aubry have made the decision not to return to the program,” said Legerski in a released statement. “We wish them the best in their future endeavors.”

A 5-10, guard from Evergreen, Colorado, Gorrell started in all 32 games this season and the final 14 last season for the Cowgirls. She averaged 3.8 points and a team high 3.7 assists per game during the 2012-13 season. Over the her two-year career with UW, she averaged 4.0 points and 2.8 assists per contest.

Boehme, a 6-0 forward from Smithfield, Utah, played in 28 of 32 games in her first year with the program. She averaged 1.2 points and almost one rebound per contest. She was highly recruited out of Otero Junior College in Colorado. Boehme was selected as the pre-season Newcomer of the Year by the coaches and media in the MW prior to the season.

This leaves the Cowgirl program with four scholarships available in recruiting.
