Watch some guys in kilts swordfighting.

Watch some leather-clad guy do some really bizarre things like pound a nail up his nose.

Watch some awesome equestrians charge at each other with lances.

You can watch these and live out other medieval fantasies -- don't forget the mermaid! -- at the annual Middle Platte Renaissance Faire sponsored by Stage III Community Theatre. The Faire continues today through Sunday at the Natrona County Fairgrounds. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

The Faire has activities for the whole family, such as a giant chessboard, fairies wandering around and bestowing blessings, and belly dancers.

Listen to the Casper Professional Firefighters Pipes & Drums serenade you with bagpipes, or Frostylocks sing some tall tales.

Browse the exhibits offering jewelry, drinking horns, clothing and corsets, and some really nasty looking swords, pikes and other sharp instruments for skewering infidels.

And children of all ages will enjoy throwing wet sponges at jesters in stocks who throw insults back.

Such fun can work up an appetite and thirst, so check out the exhibits offering cupcakes, ice cream and heartier victuals such as chicken and turkey legs.

Then head over to The Longbowman Tavern for some ale or a mug of mead (the spiced alcoholic honey drink, not the governor).
