UPDATE 5 p.m. Friday: Stew Anderson, the emergency manager for Natrona County, says he has not received any additional information as of yet in regard to Friday's tornado. He has also not received any damage reports.

The National Weather Service did not return our phone call.

UPDATE 2:57 p.m. Friday: A call to Chris Jones, the warning coordination meteorologist for the National Weather Service's office in Riverton, went unanswered. Jones, according to his voicemail, is out of the office until next week.

At this stage, K2 Radio is attempting to figure out why neither a severe weather watch nor warning was issued by NWS. Another call is out to the National Weather Service's Riverton office, and, if they return our call, we will update this story with additional information from them.

Mark Chanez, Townsquare Media Wyoming's chief engineer, says the last weather alert or advisory that was received by the cluster's EAS system was on May 22.

UPDATE 2:34 p.m. Friday: Natrona County emergency manager Stew Anderson on why sirens were not activated:

The reason (is) because it was headed to the west on top of the mountain and not toward the city or any population where we have sirens.

UPDATE 2:20 p.m. Friday: Stew Anderson, the emergency manager for Natrona County, was able to confirm to K2 Radio that a tornado touched down west of Casper Mountain Road. Currently, there are no reports of structure damage or injuries.

ORIGINAL STORY: The National Weather Service has posted a significant weather advisory for Natrona County. The following was posted by NWS meteorologists at 1:48 p.m.:

PARADISE VALLEY AROUND 155 PM MDT. U.S. HWY 220 MILE MARKER 110...RED BUTTES VILLAGE AND CENTRAL WYOMING FAIRGROUNDS AROUND 200 PM MDT. MILLS AROUND 205 PM MDT. EMIGRANT GAP...U.S. HWY 20/26 MILE MARKER 10 AND NATRONA COUNTY AIRPORT AROUND 215 PM MDT. IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES YOUR AREA...TAKE SHELTER IN A STURDY BUILDING. REPORT HAZARDOUS WEATHER TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN RIVERTON AT 1-800-211-1448.

Eyewitnesses saw the funnel cloud atop Casper Mountain at around 2 p.m. on Friday.
