Four Wyoming Towns Ranked Among the Best Small Cities in America

According to a new Wallet Hub study comparing small cities across the country, Wyoming has four of the best small towns in America.

2015's Best and Worst Small Cities in America analyzed 1268 cities with populations under 100,000 based on a variety of factors, including housing costs, home ownership rates, income growth, the percentage of residents living below the poverty line, education, work conditions, access to health care, crime rates, along with dining and nightlife options,

Casper was the highest ranked city in Wyoming, finishing in 97th place overall. Gillette wasn't far behind, ranking among the top 100 towns for economic growth and landing in 110th place overall.

Cheyenne placed 147th in the nationwide rankings. Based on a "quality of life" ranking in the top 65, Laramie came in 252nd.

On the surface, those numbers don't seem very impressive, until you consider the size and scope of the survey. Even though Laramie finished behind 251 other cities, it still ranks in the top 20 percent of of the study.

Princeton, New Jersey, was ranked as the best small city in the country, followed by Littleton, Colorado, Dublin, Ohio, Brookfield, Wisconsin and Leawood, Kansas.

Nearly all of the worst ranked small cities were in California. Bell, California, came in at 1268th, dead last in the study. Huntington Park, Bell Gardens, Compton, and Lynwood, California rounded out the bottom five cities on the list. Click here for the complete study.
