The minute I step onto the grounds at Fort Caspar (yes, that’s with an ‘a’ and not an ‘e’), I am immediately transported back to my childhood. I’m pretty sure that not a single child of Casper has grown up without at least one trip to the fort and the adjoining museum.

This seems like a great opportunity to remind everyone that Fort Caspar is not just a stop on the American Idol Bus Tour, it is also an incredible resource for the Casper community. Located at a major North Platte River crossing, the 1865 reconstruction sits on the Oregon, Mormon Pioneer, California, Pony Express, and transcontinental telegraph trail corridor.

The museum boasts exhibits on everything from covered wagons to six-shooters and if you venture outside you can see the reconstruction of the actual fort, including officer’s barracks, stables and more. Before you leave, don’t forget to hit the gift shop and help support this great Casper attraction.
