A Douglas-raised and Casper-polished singer will appear on NBC’s “The Voice” during the program’s forthcoming third season.

A self-described “neyo-soul” singer, San Diego-based Aquile grew up with his mother in Douglas and later moved to Casper before officially establishing his professional singing career in California. Aquile says his time taking part in Kelly Walsh High School’s renowned choir program helped mold his singing presence.

“I relocated with my mother to Casper and felt that I could go to Kelly Walsh, and they have a really great choir program,” Aquile said. “I did everything I could – I made all-state choir, all-state jazz and went on to go to Casper College under a full-ride scholarship for musical theater.”

Aquile says luck and opportunity played a role in landing an audition for “The Voice.”

“I just basically heard it through a friend,” Aquile said. “It’s not a widely advertised way to audition, matter of fact, most people that audition have specific invitations.”

The third season of “The Voice” debuts Monday.

You can follow Aquile through his Twitter, Facebook and YouTube pages, as well as through his website.
