Last night Casper fire fighting units responded to a reported fire at the old St. Anthony's Convent, on Wolcott street, which is right next to the old St. Anthony's School Building located catty corner from City Park, across the street from the old Knights of Columbus building. Smoke was reported coming from the top of the old convent building that in the past was used two summers ago as a homless shelter for a period of time. Both the old school and convent have been empty for years. Initially four units responded to the call. But after about 45 minutes three units were called off. According to one of the fireman on the scene some one had started a fire in the commons area between the old school and the convent. Fire fighters quickly extinguished the blaze with limited or no real damage to either structure. Cause of the fire is yet unknown. As investigators will work on the scene to determine the cause. There were no injuries reported and acording to fire fighters.
