We all expect blood to be available when we need it, but only a few of those who can give actually roll up their sleeves.  If you have O Negative blood, it’s time for you to get involved.” Asay said.

If you want to volunteer, you must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors 16-17 must have signed permission from a parent or guardian.

Reports are hot and heavy that Van Halen is postponing an entire leg of  their North American tour. All of the bands announced dates after a June 26th show in the ‘Big Easy’ have been removed from the band’s web-site.Venues around the country are starting to confirm the postponements. It was just a couple of days ago the band extended their tour through a stop in Milwaukee on September 25th. It now seems 30 shows could be rescheduled or cancelled.

No reason has been given about the cancellation, but there is speculation.

At the end of April, Honolulu County passed a ban that made Hawaii the first state in the nation to ban plastic bags at store checkouts statewide. Of the four counties in the state, three had previously passed bans and the Honolulu County decision officially made the ban statewide.

The Hawaii chapter of the Sierra Club has spent two years campaigning for a plastic bag ban. Robert Harris, director of the chapter said, “Passing the bans did take an effort — change always does — but people seemed to understand the need for such an effort.”

He believes that in the end it was easy to go statewide because Hawaii is a marine state. “Perhaps we are exposed more directly to the impacts of plastic pollution and the damage it does to our environment,” he said.

Harris also explained that the group had lobbied for state legislation, but that effort failed. The group used the exposure from it to petition the four counties to make their own bans which would then have an effect statewide.

The Honolulu County Council passed the final ban late last month, but mayor and county executive Peter Carlisle held back his support, feeling that he needed more input from the public because of enforcement and cost concerns. Last Thursday, Mayor Carlisle showed his full support by signing the ban and helping Hawaii earn its first-in-the-nation status.

Retailers have three years to comply with the county law that bans non-biodegradable plastic bags at checkout, as well as paper bags that are not at least 40 percent recycled. There is some good news being reported about the state of young people in America.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, fewer American teens and young adults are smoking cigarettes than they were nearly a decade ago.

This new report consists of data collected each year between 2004 and 2010 as part of the National Survey on Drug Use and Health. Researchers interviewed nearly 158,000 people between the ages of 12 and 17 and roughly 159,000 men and women between the ages of 18 to 25.

• The number of children between the ages of 12 and 17 who smoked every day fell from 3.3% in 2004 to 1.9% in 2010.
• Young people ages 18 to 25 years old also reported decreased daily tobacco use – from 20.4% in 2004 to 15.8% in 2010.
• The ranks of young smokers between the ages of 12 and 17 who smoke five or fewer cigarettes a day grew from nearly 37% in 2004 to almost 43% in 2010.
• The largest group of daily smokers between the ages of 18 to 25 who smoked between six and 15 cigarettes a day slightly increased from about 41% in 2004 to roughly 44% in 2010.
• There was nearly a 3% decrease in young adults who smoked 26 or more cigarettes a day.

According to researchers, the downward trend in tobacco use could be the result of anti-smoking laws, tax increases, and tougher laws prohibiting the sale of tobacco to minors.

Researchers also add that while these findings may be encouraging, many kids are still picking up this dangerous habit.

Curt Schilling’s 38 Studios, which borrowed $75 million from the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, is hurting financially and may be unable to pay back its debt.

That’s bad news for people who dug the studio’s debut game, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, because it means that we probably won’t be seeing a sequel or the long-in-development massively multiplayer online game any time soon.

Joystiq reports that a default on the bond would mean the Kingdoms of Amalur franchise would belong to the Rhode Island taxpayers. At that point the state would probably auction off the franchise for far less than its debt and eat the loss.

Maybe a publisher that respects Amalur’s potential could come along, snatch it up and do the series justice. And maybe Schilling will report back to the Boston Red Sox and score a ridiculous signing bonus that lets him pay off the debt and keep his game company’s intellectual property. Neither scenario is likely.

Let this be a lesson to states business-promoting organizations: Beware of lending money to baseball legends who are dabbling in the videogame business.

67-year-old Robert White went to the Red Parrot Strip Club and got quite a few lap dances, and when it came time to pay up, he was unresponsive.

Some of the bar employees tried CPR, (I like to think it was some well stacked young lady that is stripping her way through nursing school), but it didn’t work.  Robert was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead of natural causes.

The ABC affiliate in El Paso, did a report and think there may be more to it.

If you’re a Verizon Wireless customer who was grandfathered in with an unlimited data plan after the company eliminated the option for new customers, enjoy it while it lasts — the company will be moving you to a tiered plan soon.

Speaking at the JP Morgan Technology, Media and Telecom conference on Wednesday, Verizon CFO Fran Shammo said customers with unlimited 3G data access will be required to switch to a data-share plan after transitioning to the company’s 4G LTE service.

“LTE is our anchor point for data share. So, as you come through an upgrade cycle and you upgrade in the future, you will have to go on to the data share plan,” Shammo said. “Everyone will be on [it]. A lot of our 3G base is on unlimited… [and] when they migrate off 3G they will have to go to data share.”

So when will that happen and how much will it cost? The data share plan is scheduled to launch in mid-summer, but pricing details have yet to be announced.

The Casper Police Department is investigating two deaths at a home in the 400 block of West 12^th Street.  Few details are available, but investigators have said that two bodies were found in the home Thursday morning.   We will have more information as soon as it is released by the Casper Police Department.

Casper Police are conducting an investigation on 12^th Street, and Natrona County School District Officials want to ensure parents that there is no danger to students.  The large police presence prompted some concerns, but the district notified parents by telephone that students were safe, and that no schools were on lockdown.

The investigation is near a number of Natrona County Schools.  It’s not yet known what prompted the police investigation, but details are expected later today.

One of America’s greatest exports isn’t a product, a car or even a tangible object. It’s self-esteem. And by that logic, that means Ritalin and cheap whiskey are also our greatest exports.

So it’s no wonder that despite everything that’s going on in the country and the world, a recent study of the Well-Being Index found that a majority of Americans are feeling quite happy overall. That means there are still some sad sacks out there who need cheering up. Here are some reasons that should help them put a smile on their faces:

1. Not only can you eat 24 hours a day, you don’t even have to get out of your car or put on pants to do it.

2. The closest thing our women have to a burka is a Snuggie.

3. Per capita, we have more wet T-shirt contests than any other country.

4. Using donuts instead of sandwich bread is totally acceptable.

5. The news has more sexual content than most late night pay cable movie channels.

6. Our biggest cars can carry a family of 10 or two average-sized Americans.

7. Bacon isn’t the only thing in the store that’s bacon-flavored — and that includes the pharmacy aisle.

8. Other countries give their women jail time for showing too much skin. We give them drink tickets and awards for ‘Best Buns.’

9. We’re so excepting of foreign immigrants who want to live in our country that we elected one president.

10. Hamburgers and hot dogs are a side dish.

11. “On a stick” is one of our four food groups.

12. Our politicians make us laugh and cry at the same time.

Disco legend Donna Summer has died after a battle with cancer, TMZ is reporting. She was 63 years old.

Insiders say she wanted to keep the disease quiet, and a friend said that as recently as two weeks ago, Summer seemed okay and was even finishing up work on a new album.

The five-time Grammy winner shot to fame in the 1970s with songs like ‘Love to Love You Baby,’ ‘Hot Stuff’ and ‘Bad Girls,’ and continued her reign on radio airwaves into the ’80s with hits including ‘She Works Hard for the Money’ and ‘This Time I Know It’s for Real.’

Summer was also the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach No. 1 on the US Billboard chart.

Pat Sajak’s reaction to this young fellow not producing the proper response is priceless (WTF is a fand?) and we should give the kid a round of “magic hands” for not making a break for it once he realized a 2^nd grader could have solved that puzzle.

When you find a good thing it’s best to keep it or keep at it, as in the case of the Fishin’ Hippy. Glendo was fruitful in search of the elusive ”eyes!” This last trip was very successful and we were informed that the walleye fishing would continue to be good.Well the Hippy never lies! On his most recent trips (4 days in a row) the success continued. The Hippy has found a niche using hard plastic crank baits. “Most people are still using live minnows, leeches and even night crawlers, jigging them off the bottom.” Some people are even catching walleye with soft plastics too.

The Hippy also credits In-Fisherman magazine (there’s a TV show too) with providing valuable information about a “crank” from Berkley that he uses. Walleye feeding patterns also went into making decisions on what colors the Hippy would use. The choices were dead on! Four days straight the Hippy caught 15-25 “eyes” ranging from 15-23 inches in length!

Lady “T” (Hippy’s companion) even got in on the action. For the first time in her life she caught her first limit of walleye, as did the other people along for the outings. Hippy loves to share his love of fishing with anyone who has the time and wants to get better at angling.

After a few days break to fish Bass Lake, the temptation of Glendo returned, but without the success in the past. By now the water level is two feet  lower than the last trip and the fish are harder to catch.

What to do now? Change tactics! Now the Hippy is trolling (rather than casting and retrieving) his crank baits behind the boat in 10-15 feet of water and once again ‘hammered’ the “eyes!”

The Hippy was willing to change his tactics and followed the fish for another spectacular outing on Glendo. Tomorrow will tell if all was a fluke, or if the Hippy is on to something. Yes, he’s headed back to the lake.

As far as introductions go, Diablo III had a rougher time than we did in our atomic wedgie-filled first day of high school. Blizzard’s PC lootfest came out Tuesday, cursed with overloaded servers and a bug that ended the games of some players lucky enough to actually play the game.

In a normal situation, server downtime would be a forgivable annoyance, and players could just plug away at the single-player mode until things were straight. Not so with Diablo III, because Blizzard cursed the game with demonic piracy protection that forces the game to be online at all times, regardless of which mode they’re playing. After struggling to get up and running much of the launch day, the servers finally seem good to go.

There’s no such good news yet about a bug that forces players out of their games if they play as a member of the Demon Hunter class and trade trade an equipped shield with a Templar. We would guess that Blizzard will release a patch soon that would fix the glitch. They did release a statement via their Twitter account saying “We’re currently investigating the issue that some have been experiencing with vanishing #D3 achievements. Thanks for your reports.” “Thanks for your reports” is a nice way of saying “WE KNOW! WE KNOW SHUT UP ALREADY!”

For now, though, expect to battle Blizzard’s screwiness as much as you will monsters and demons.

Is Will Ferrell’s ‘Anchorman’ sequel going to be a ‘Chorus Line’-style musical? Probably not. That’s too much to ask. But that’s the vibe I’m getting off of this early teaser poster for ‘Anchorman 2,’ which may (or may not) be subtitled ‘The Legend Continues.’

The poster was tagged by The Lebanese Cinema Movie Guide (and shared via ComingSoon). It arrives just ahead of an alleged ‘Anchorman’ sequel teaser trailer that Paramount plans to attach to prints of Sacha Baron Cohen’s ‘The Dictator’ starting this week.

We haven’t seen the teaser yet, but it reportedly involves all four cast members riffing about their return. The last thing McKay told the media about the sequel, they were still hammering out the script. It’s unlikely they’ve filmed anything for the sequel besides this teaser. We’ll post it as soon as it makes it’s way online.

Until then, we have this poster. That’s Ron in the middle, with his signature red suit. Who is that on the left? They appear to have two different pant legs. That has to be Steve Carell’s dim-witted Brick, right?

We have a long time until the ‘Anchorman’ sequel reaches theaters in 2013. But between the Conan O’Brien appearance, the teaser trailer and now this poster, it’s obvious Paramount’s going to promote the daylights out of this sequel, turning it into a massive hit for the studio. Well, that’s if the movie’s any good. It has to be, though. Right?

It’s not uncommon for some teens to sign abstinence pledges or pledges vowing not to drink and drive. But at one high school school in Massachusetts, students are promising to abstain from something else entirely: tanning beds.

A recent CDC survey showed that despite the risk of skin cancer, young women are still visiting tanning salons twice a month — and that’s something the upperclassmen at Maynard High School in Maynard, Mass. want to change.

Back in February, Allison Bosse, a senior, organized a pledge in which students vowed not to use tanning beds or sunbathe before this year’s prom — and it was no easy sell.

“Our school is known for a lot of people tanning,” she said. “Kids start in March because they want to be tan in their dresses for prom.”

Bosse set up tables in the school cafeteria and began asking her fellow students to take the no-tanning pledge. And she must have been pretty persuasive, because 209 of Maynard’s 283 seniors signed on. (Maybe the others just haven’t seen the infamous tanning mom yet.)

Dr. Jennifer Stein, an assistant professor of dermatology at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York, applauds the effort, saying, “There’s a lot of pressure for teenagers to look tan. It’s really important to try to change the way teenagers think about tanning beds.”

Here come the ‘Men In Black’ again. Yawn. Here comes Micaela Schaefer in a dress straight from Etsy (possibly Regretsy). Now we’re awake!

Much like the ‘Men In Black’ routinely deal with alien invasions, spectators in attendance for the German premiere of the flick were treated to a close encounter of the topless kind — courtesy of the gorgeous German model.

Schaefer landed on the red carpet premiere wearing nothing but a necklace and long, black garbage bag strips or possibly VHS tape either to pay homage to the tentacled creatures in the film or in an attempt to bring back Jacobim Mugatu’s Derelicte fashion line from ‘Zoolander.’

Extraterrestrial models of the universe, please know that these kinds of stunts are always appreciated.  Three-boobed woman from ‘Total Recall’ are next.

Apparently, things fell apart late in the second period after Cody Reed of the Coquitlam Adanacs was hit by  Jordan Kuziuk of the Nanaimo Timbermen, who was then cross-checked by the Adanacs’ Zachary Hartman. After that, all the players on the field began to tussle. Eventually, both benches emptied and a full-scale fracas erupted. No fewer than 15 players were suspended.

What’s even more startling about this clip is the utter lack of spectators. With the exception of a few fans who shout their disapproval after the fight, the stands are largely empty. Granted, Canada is almost entirely fixated on hockey as the national sport, but this lack of turnout is embarrassing.

Oh well, at least we have this battle royal to remind us that lacrosse exists.
