The Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested a Casper man Friday for possession of child pornography, according to an affidavit by the FBI agent filed with U.S. District Court.

Rick William Olsen was found after an investigation by the FBI's Violent Crimes Against Children Intelligence Unit working with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which had received multiple reports about him, according to the affidavit.

Tuesday, Olsen made his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Kelly Rankin in Cheyenne and he was temporarily detained.

Olsen, also known as Rico Suave, was living at a residence on South Socony Place, "and was very likely involved in the distribution, transmission, receipt, and /or possession of child pornography," according to the affidavit.

The agent obtained a federal search warrant of Olsen's residence and his person on May 20.

The agent and other law enforcement officers served the search warrant on the residence, and the agent went to where Olsen works.

Olsen gave the agent his cell phone. He told the agent he used it to keep digital images of child pornography, and to send images to others.

He had an interest in child pornography for several years and found a site while looking at a graphic violence site, according to the affidavit. "Olsen sought out child pornography sites and found it to be incredibly easy to locate them. He advised that he knew it was wrong and that 'this day was coming.' He stated he knew the consequences."

Olsen would view images and files, and then usually delete them.

An agent with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation with experience in forensic examination of electronic devices found images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

The government regards child pornography as a crime of violence because it involves sometimes brutal assaults on children who cannot give consent to sexual activity.
