Federal Judges Sentence Four For Gun, Drug And Illegal Alien Crimes

Federal judges recently sentenced four men for drug, firearm, and illegal alien crimes, according to a news release from the Wyoming U.S. Attorney General's Office.

Chief U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Freudenthal sentenced  Wesley John Niles, 44, of Orin Junction for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. He received two years imprisonment, to be followed by three years of probation, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and restitution in the amount of $200.

Niles was arrested in Douglas.

This case results from an ongoing Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces joint investigation conducted by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The OCDETF identifies, disrupts and dismantles the most serious drug trafficking, weapons trafficking and money laundering organizations, and those primarily responsible for the nation’s illegal drug supply.

Judge Alan Johnson sentenced Jason Brock Latoski, 36, of Cheyenne for being a felon and unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm. He received two years, 11 months imprisonment, to be followed by three years of probation. Johnson also ordered him to pay a $400 fine and a $100 special assessment.

This case was investigated by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Johnson also sentenced two Mexican national for illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien.

Jamie Atilano-Araiza, 27, received six months imprisonment, was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment, and is subject to deportation upon release from custody. He was arrested in Greybull.
Alfredo Romero-Garcia, 50, received time served, plus 10 days, was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment, and is subject to deportation upon release from custody. He was arrested in Jackson.

Both cases were investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
