Additional Information

The Casper Posse of Westerners is now an established group, and is beginning its growth and organizational efforts. We are currently a small but enthusiastic group, and we will continue meeting at the Wyoming Veterans Museum on a monthly basis.

We held our first meeting the first week in June.

Our next Casper Posse of Westerners meeting will be on Wednesday, July 16th at 7:30 p.m. at the museum. Our members felt that the 3rd Wednesday of every month, at 7:30 p.m., at our museum, would work best for the group.

Everybody is familiar with Wyatt Earp. On July 16th our curator will speak on the Civil War service of three of Wyatt's older brothers.

His half-brother Newton Earp served in the 4th Iowa Cavalry, being promoted to Sergeant.

Oldest brother James Earp served in the 17th Illinois Infantry, and was among the first men wounded from Illinois during the Civil War.

Virgil Earp served in the 83rd Illinois Infantry, and fought guerrillas in Middle Tennessee for most of the war.

Their Civil War experience significantly effected the lives of these men, and of their younger brother Wyatt, who was too young to serve in the Civil War.

This promises to be a fascinating lecture on a relatively little discussed western history topic. The Wyoming Veterans Museum invites all of our friends to attend.
