Additional Information

The first major event of the summer at the Wyoming Veterans Memorial Museum is an initial, organizational meeting of the Casper Posse of the Westerners.

The Wyoming Veterans Museum is organizing a Casper Posse of the Westerners International. This organization is a round table type group, which will meet monthly at our museum, focused on western frontier history topics. Westerners International is a non-profit Foundation organized to stimulate interest and research in the history of the American West. The Westerners movement was started in Chicago in 1944, and today has more than 145 Corrals and Posses in the United States and overseas. Currently there are corrals in Buffalo, Cheyenne and Cody- this new posse will allow the Casper and Natrona County to participate in this excellent organization.

Our first meeting will be held at the Wyoming Veterans Memorial Museum, at 3740 Jourgensen Avenue at the Casper Natrona County International Airport on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Anyone interested in western or frontier history is invited to attend to help organize this historic group.

Our curator will be speaking about the U.S. Army and Route Security along the Overland Trails during the Indian Wars period from the 1840s through the 1870s, a topic that he previously researched for the U.S. Army Combat Studies Institute at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

The point of contact is Douglas Cubbison, Curator, 307-472-1857.

We invite all of our friends to attend. Our Curator was an active member of the Kansas City Posse of Westerners, and it is a fun, enjoyable organization. Please join us!!!
