Some of rock's greatest bassists and drummers are coming together to pay tribute to the Who's legendary rhythm section.

The event, dubbed The Ox & The Loon, is scheduled to take place April 24 at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, where an all-star lineup will congregate for what promises to be "a night of rhythmic lunacy" in honor of bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon. Tickets are available via the House of Blues website.

It's all being organized by drummer Brian Tichy (Whitesnake, Foreigner, Ozzy Osbourne, and many more) and his business partner Joe Sutton. Said Tichy, "The more I listen to Moon and Entwistle, the more I am blown away and inspired! Where do you start? Where does it end? It doesn't! I am so looking forward to this night and putting together a show that brings us all together for the common love of a rhythm section that catapulted the Who to the top of all things rock 'n roll!"

The lineup is still being settled, but as of this writing, confirmed participants include bassists Michael Anthony (Van Halen, Chickenfoot), Phil Chen (Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart, Pete Townshend), Michael Devin (Whitesnake), James Lomenzo (Megadeth, John Fogerty), Jeff Pilson (Foreigner, Dokken, Dio), and Phil Soussan (Ozzy Osbourne), and drummers Kenny Aronoff (everyone), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Stephen Perkins (Jane's Addiction), Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, the Winery Dogs), Rikki Rockett (Poison), Chad Smith (Chickenfoot, Red Hot Chili Peppers), and -- of course -- Tichy himself.

"We are beyond psyched to announce the first lineup of performers graciously coming aboard to make this a night unlike any before," enthused Tichy. "These amazing bassists and drummers get together to give it back to the legends that wrote and broke the rules of rock 'n' roll!"
