It’s safe to say all alumni functions would be greatly improved by the presence of Eddie Vedder.

Luckily for San Dieguito Academy, the California high school counts the Pearl Jam frontman as one of its former students (Vedder dropped out his senior year), and the singer returned to his alma mater for a surprise performance at a fundraising event this past weekend. Vedder joined a group of teachers and one-time classmates on stage for a cover of Joe Jackson’s “Got the Time.” Then, he collaborated with a group of current San Dieguito Academy students on the Modern Lovers’ “Road Runner.” See videos from the event at the bottom of the page.

Pearl Jam will hit the road this spring, stopping at cities across the U.S. and Canada. The run of dates kicks off on April 8 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. They have multi-night residencies planned in Philadelphia, New York City, Boston and Chicago. They're also slated to headline this year's Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tenn. (June 9-12).
