A small earthquake has been confirmed in Central Wyoming.

The United States Geological Survey says at around 8:15am on Monday, November 30th, a magnitude 3.4 quake occurred about 12 miles south-southwest of Midwest, or 25 miles north of Casper.

The quake area has an estimated depth of 3.9 miles.

No damage or injuries have been reported.

The USGS says quakes east of the Rocky Mountains are less common and occur as faulting within bedrock, usually miles deep.
