Here in Wyoming we have more than a few bars. You may even have been in one, or have a cousin who once saw somebody say they had been in a bar. But have you ever wondered what the drunkest city is in the Cowboy State?  A report in the Wall Street Journal shows a new study that’s found the drunkest city in every state, including Wyoming!

This study is based on alcohol statistics from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) based on the amount of both binge drinking and heavy drinking.   But how do they determine what “binge drinking” and “heavy drinking really is?  The CDC says for women, it’s usually consuming at least four drinks or more in one sitting, while for men, it’s five drinks or more in one sitting, and when it comes to heavy drinking, it’s eight drinks or more per week for women, and for men, it’s fifteen or more drinks for men per week.

This study also shows that almost no college towns made the list, which is a bit of a shocker given the amount of drinking that usually goes on at colleges across the nation, and even though some big cities like Denver, Phoenix and Chicago made this list, it was the smaller towns that had the most drinkers, which is said to be along the lines with the national average, in Casper, the percentage of binge and heavy drinkers is at 17.6%.  The study also indicates that roughly 17% of drinkers in Wyoming drink in excess, and may contribute to the amount of traffic fatalities, with 43.9% of fatal car accidents in Casper are alcohol related, making it one of the highest shares in the nation.

Not so surprising, the biggest drinking city in California is Napa, where there are wine vineyards a plenty!
