With the start of the new school year right around the corner, Operation Back to School is working to ensure low-income students are prepared when classes start this fall.

Volunteers are seeking basic school supplies and monetary donations for kindergarten through college-aged students in Laramie County.

Cindy Reynders, Marketing Specialist for the Community Relations Department at Laramie County School District 1, says part of receiving a good education begins with having the tools necessary to learn.

"It's pretty tough for the little ones, or kids of any age, to not have the supplies that they need," said Reynders.  "School is a challenge enough as it is, and to not have the things they need makes it harder."

Reynders says school supplies can be dropped off at the LCSD1 Administration Building, Needs Inc., Laramie County Community College, the Laramie County Library and F.E. Warren Air Force Base.

Backpacks full of supplies will be given out this Saturday, August 8, at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter Community Room to students who have pre-qualified with Needs Inc.
