Nafissatou Diallo, the hotel housekeeper at the center of the Dominique Strauss-Kahn sexual assault scandal, has broken her silence.

During a sit-down with Robin Roberts from ABC News, the so-called “DSK maid” tearfully recalled her encounter with the former head of the International Monetary Fund and one-time candidate for the French presidency.

Diallo told Roberts she didn’t know who her attacker was until after the alleged assault. “I was watching the news, and then they said he’s going to be the next president of France. And I said ‘Oh my God,’ and I was crying I said ‘they’re gonna kill me, they’re gonna kill me, I’m going to die’ … Because I know if I was in my country [Guinea in West Africa] … a powerful man like that … they’re gonna kill me before someone knows what happened to me.”

Due to inconsistencies in her history and background, prosecutors have demurred on her case, especially after an anonymous source told the New York Post Diallo sometimes had sex in exchange for cash — a claim she adamantly denies.

As for Strauss-Kahn, who acknowledges the encounter took place but claims it was consensual, Diallo hopes he’ll be punished. “I want justice. I want him to go to jail. I want him to know, you cannot use your power when you do something like this.”
