Did Google’s Street View Car Run Over a Donkey? It Sure Looks That Way

This is just awful if it really happened.Someone was randomly looking at the Google Street View map for a dirt road outside Kweneng, Botswana. And it appears that a donkey spotted the car, jumped in front of it and got run over.

The Australian press picked up the story, and says Google told them the car didn’t hit the donkey…the donkey was lying there injured and got up after the Google car drove past it.

But to us it looks pretty clearly like the donkey is standing there, then the car drives past, and suddenly the donkey is sprawled out on the ground. And if you zoom and rotate on Google Maps, there’s evidence that’s what really happened.
