A Southwest flight from Denver International Airport to Pittsburgh this week may have been an ordinary trip for dozens of passengers, but it was a special occasion for the pilot.

Southwest Captain John Richie got onto the plane's public address system before takeoff and announced that in his 20+ year commercial flying career, he'd kept track of the number of passengers on every flight.

This flight contained his one millionth passenger.

The pilot announced to that lucky customer that he had purchased her a bottle of champagne, and an envelope with the cash amount of her airfare.

So, here's hoping the next time you fly out of DIA you get treated to free airfare and a bottle of champagne. Or, at least all your luggage in tact...
