On July 8, Def Leppard and Kiss returned to one of the most famous arenas in the country, the newly refurbished Los Angeles Forum, and thrilled a packed house on their current co-headlining tour.

After a brief but raucous opening set by Kobra and the Lotus, Def Leppard took the stage and performed a hit-packed 75 minute set. As has been reported, Def guitarist Vivian Campbell is battling cancer and had endured a chemotherapy treatment just the day before. Pacing himself carefully though, he soldiered through the set. Bandmates Phil Collen and Rick Savage supported their musical brother by covering extra laps around the stage throughout the show and playing even more inspired than usual.

Then it was time for Kiss, who, like Def Leppard, understands all too well how to both please the loyalists while also wowing first-timers. Being lowered from the ceiling in the midst of their massive spider-like stage, Kiss also made the most of their 75 minutes. Replete with all of the classic Kiss effects -- from Gene Simmons' blood spewing to Paul Stanley's zipline to a non-stop barrage of lights and explosions -- their show remains in a league of its own.
