There comes a time in every basketball team's season that hope only goes so far. There comes a time when you just need to win. And after 5 straight conference loses, that's what the University of Wyoming Cowboy's basketball team did last night. The Cowboy's (17-7, 3-7) rolled over Nevada (12-12, 3-7) in a huge Mountain West Conference victory 68-48.

Every one showed up. Finally. Larry Nance Jr., who's been injured for a week, showed up scoring seven points and grabbing eight rebounds. But the real show was senior forward Leonard Washington who contributed with 16 points, 12 rebounds, five steals, three blocked shots and two assists. Stellar night.

The Cowboys played so well there were names showing up in the box scores that one would normally never see like Sophomore walk-on Jack Bentz who scored a bucket. Sophomore center Matt Sellers – on the court for the first time in a conference game –  who blocked a shot.

Winning makes every one feel better. And it brings back that intangible. Hope.

The Cowboys continue Conference play this Saturday afternoon in Laramie as the Cowboys match up against Fresno State. Game time is 2pm and can be heard on our sister station AM 1030 KTWO.
