The Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in which a Colorado Springs, Colo., woman died near Evanston on Monday, according to a news release from Patrol Sgt. David Wagener.

Janoah McWill, 70, was driving westbound on Interstate 80 about nine miles east of Evanston.

McWill had parked her vehicle on the highway shoulder possibly because of mechanical issues.

Her exact location before the crash is still under investigation, but troopers believe she was possibly outside of her vehicle.

At 10:55 p.m., a westbound truck driven by Justin Chadwick, 39, of Rock Springs crashed into the back of McWinn's vehicle.

Chadwick was preparing to pull over to check on a mechanical issue with his truck before the crash.
McWinn died at the scene.

Chadwick was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.

Driver inattention is being investigated as a contributing factor in this crash that marked the 21st highway fatality in Wyoming for 2016. There were 48 fatalities this same time last year.
