The Casper College Goodstein Foundation Library is teaming up with Wyoming Food For Thought Project to give books to children in need along with food bags for Christmas.

Amber Olson, library specialist, said the idea for the book drive came easily.

“It just popped into my head! It seemed like a great idea for the library to support literacy, and Brad (Matthies), the library director, was really supportive and let me run with it. I then checked with Food For Thought’s director to see if they would be interested in books for the Holiday food bags and she thought it sounded great, so it all came together,” said Olson. “My family and I volunteer with Wyoming Food for Thought Project stuffing their weekly food bags.”

There are other entities involved in the book drive too.

The Tate Geological Museum Gift Shop is also participating with an offer of 20 percent off the cost of all children’s books to anyone purchasing a book for the library’s drive.

If you are interested in participating in this community event, here's what you need to know.

New books can be dropped off under the library’s Christmas tree located in the lobby. “This holiday we hope to collect enough books to send one home with each child's food bag,” noted Olson.

The Goodstein Foundation Library is located on the Casper College campus. For more information contact Olson at 307-268-2650.
