A fatal crash on July 16th has resulted in the death of 38 year old Pilar R. Snelling of Cody, Wyoming. The crash happened at 11:50 p.m. at the intersection of Wyoming Highway 295 and Wyoming Highway 32 approximately 12 miles southeast of Powell, Wyoming.

Snelling was the front seat passenger in a pickup truck driven by 28 year old Daniel W. Cook of Emblem, Wyoming. The truck was traveling east on WY 295 and approaching the intersection with WY 32 that had a clearly marked stop sign for eastbound traffic on WY 295. WY 295 ends at the intersection with WY 32. The truck continued east through the intersection without slowing, crossed WY 32, left the road and struck a sign post and the right-of-way fence. After hitting the fence, the truck vaulted and overturned.

Neither Snelling or Cook were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. Snelling was ejected from the truck, Cook was not. Snelling died at the scene. Cook was taken to the hospital in Powell, treated and released.

Alcohol is being investigated as the contributing factor in this 70th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2015. There were 74 fatalities during this same time period in 2014. Charges are pending as the investigation continues.
