The following details the CJH Electronic Eagles awesome story:

On December 2nd 2017 the Centennial Jr. High Electronic Eagles participated in the Wyoming State Championship for the First Lego League at the Casper Events Center. Sixty teams from all over the state 4th – 8th grade were challenged to a Robot Competition and a real world water project problem and possible solution. Centennial Jr. High presented a real-world problem seen at local lift stations while processing city wastewater. Wastewater creates extreme H2S which is very harmful and creates extensive corrosion causing expensive year round maintenance. The Centennial Eagles researched this project through the internet, and visiting local water treatment plants and laboratories to understand a possible solution. The team decided to use a common Oil & Gas technique “Capillary Injection” to oxygenate the sewer main line and lift station. Dissolved oxygen starts the anaerobic process and stops H2S gas from being produced. To prove the concept, the kids built a mock lift station, injected oxygen and tested their results for a positive solution. This project won the likes of many at the competition, including the judges. The team also built and programmed a very robust robot model. Overall, the team was judged against 60 teams in 4 categories, robot design, core values, project and robot performance. The team’s performance was outstanding as they received 2nd place championship level award, and 1st place robotic competition, while usually it is customary to only win in one category.

This win qualified the Electronic Eagles for one of only 5 official qualifying tournaments in the world, where over 70 countries come to compete, share knowledge, and learn. Only 1 team will be here representing the state of Wyoming in this amazing STEM program in California on May 18-20, 2018 for the First Lego League Legoland California International Open.
