The Rock & Rock Hall of Fame recently conducted an online poll to determine the most popular artist nominated for 2016, in the performers category.

There was a total of 37,666,982 votes cast with Chicago receiving  23.41 percent of all votes cast.

Also in the top 5 were: Yes 16.2 percent, The Cars 16.14 percent, Deep Purple 15.87 and Steve Miller at number 5 with 15.85 percent.

It's important to point at that the Rock Hall's fan poll does not determine who will be inducted, but the acts who finish in the top five receive one ballot that goes toward the final decision.  According to RockHall.com, more than 600 people -- including artists, music historians and other music-industry figures -- are sent ballots.

The official list of 2016 inductees will be announced on Thursday, December 17th as the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame welcomes in a new class.

Here's a view of the vote ranking of all nominees in the online poll.
