Gilchrist Elementary School in Cheyenne has received an award from the Wyoming Department of Education for exceeding expectations with the state accountability model the past two years.

State Superintendent Jillian Balow presented the award during the Superintendent’s Policy Summit on January 12 at Little America.

"We're very proud of our Gilchrist students, parents and faculty for receiving this award," said Laramie County School District 1 Superintendent John Lyttle. "They exemplify academic excellence and the direction we're working to take our district."

The award was presented to 12 schools throughout the state that exceeded accountability expectations with students who performed well on the Proficiency Assessments for Wyoming Students (PAWS).
