If you live anywhere near NCHS in Casper and you think you can hear the sound of bass drums, trumpets, saxophones and the occasional piccolo during the summer months, you are not imagining things. The "Big Tree" area of town is the stomping ground of the "Western Wind Marching Band."

The result of a partnership between the Trooper Drum & Bugle Corps and the Natrona County School District, the marching band is open to students from grade six through high school. Under the direction of the school district's Greg Paulson, this is a great opportunity for school-aged musicians to work on their chops while school's out.

As a former member of the district's former "Summer Band" it was an awesome surprise when, while riding my bike to work, I came across the group going through their mobile rehearsal routine. Take a look at the video I was able to shoot with my trust iPhone and then be sure to check out the "Western Wind Marching Band" on July 10th during Parade Day in Downtown Casper!
