The Donald Trump-Mike Pence presidential campaign has hired local Republican activist Bonnie Foster as its state director for Wyoming, she said Wednesday.

She will be opening a Trump for President Campaign Office in the Old Yellowstone District in the next two weeks, she added.

Foster said her reasons for supporting Trump, who has alienated many Republicans, are simple.

"He's a businessman, he's aggressive, he knows how to negotiate, which is something we really need," she said. "Some of those prominent Republicans, I think, are scared because he's not a, you know, hand-out-the-favors (leader). You're going to do the work for him."

Foster and her husband, she said, were attracted to Trump early in the campaign because he was talking about the issues: immigration, the economy, trade and ISIS.

"Nobody else was talking about those," she said. "They were all kind of dancing around, and he came out of the gun: this is what we need to talk about."

Besides setting up the office, Foster will distribute Trump materials around the state, assist making telephone calls, and help with door-to-door campaigning, she said.

The Wyoming office will work with Trump headquarters in North and South Dakota, Oklahoma and Nebraska. Three of the five directors of those states are women, she added.

Foster is the chairwoman of the Natrona County Republican Party, and planned the state GOP convention in Casper in April. Unsuccessful presidential hopeful Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, attended the convention. This marked the first time Wyoming has had a presidential candidate and/or their surrogate attended a state convention.

Foster also has been a GOP state committeewoman, past president of the Wyoming Federation of Republican Women, and past president of the Natrona County Republican Women.

She ran three different statewide campaigns, has worked in local media, has been involved in her church, and volunteered with other community organizations. She and her husband own and operate a small oil and gas consulting firm.

Steve Bennett of Casper will be the Trump-Pence state campaign chairman. Bennett was a Natrona County alternate to the National Convention and was pledged to Trump.

Bennett's position is voluntary, Foster said. He will set up county campaigns. So far, four of the state's 23 counties have campaign chairmen, she said.

Bennett is a real estate broker with federal, state and local experience in commercial, industrial, and residential sales and management. He specializes in revitalizing property though management, and was named Realtor of the Year for downtown development. Steve has been President of Commercial Services Inc in Casper since 1982.
