Casper Police Unveil “Text-A-Tip” Crime Tip Reporting
Area residents who see illegal activity have a new way of anonymously reporting the crimes to police through their cell phones.
The Casper Police Department, working with Crime Stoppers of Central Wyoming and the Prevention Management Organization of Wyoming have established the “Text-A-Tip” program. By downloading a free app on your smart phone, you can make an anonymous report of any information you might have about a crime or persons of interest in a crime.
If you don’t have a smartphone, you submit an anonymous tip by sending a text to CRIMES, and start your message with CASPER, leave a space, then type the tip.
The traditional methods of reporting crime-related tips are still available, as well as by calling 577-TIPS or going to the Crime-Stoppers website.
Officials say you should not put yourselves in harms way, and if you feel you are in danger or it’s an emergency, call 911.
