Officials with Casper Fire-EMS are requesting donations to help the families of 19 firefighters that were killed while trying to control a massive wildfire in Arizona.

19 members of the 20-member Granite Mountain Hotshots, an elite firefighting crew based out of Prescott, Ariz., were killed while battling the 8,400-acre Yarnell Hill Fire near Yarnell, Ariz., on June 30. The fire was fully contained Wednesday night.

“I don’t think anybody here that works for the Casper Fire Department knew any of the guys that were working for that department (in Prescott, Ariz.), and yet, every single one of us has pretty much tried to step up and give them what we can,” Andrew Sundell, a firefighter with Casper Fire-EMS, said on Thursday.

“We understand that they’re all family men and working men, and a lot of those families are left without somebody to take care of,” Sundell said.

Sundell says all donations will be given to the families of the fallen Arizona firefighters.

Firefighters will accept donations at any Casper Fire-EMS station through July 15. All donations will be accepted.
