Bruce Springsteen Confirmed to Headline Hard Rock Calling 2013
After intense speculation and one premature leak, Bruce Springsteen has been confirmed to headline Sunday, June 30 at Hard Rock Calling. Organizers broke the news on their website Tuesday morning (March 5), announcing the legendary rocker’s third appearance at the celebrated rock festival just one day after the BBC apparently posted the news early, then removed it from their website.
“Back for some unfinished business, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band will bring The Wrecking Ball Tour to Hard Rock Calling. Expect a high energy all out rock performance that goes down in history with some of their biggest and most loved hits plus a few surprises,” the announcement reads. “Bruce is coming back to finish what he started! We canât wait to get him back on our stage!”
The “unfinished business” the announcement refers to stems from Springsteen’s guest-packed appearance in 2012, which was cut short right in the middle of a performance between the Boss and Sir Paul McCartney when their set ran over curfew. So far there’s no word on whether Springsteen will invite other guests on stage this year, but fans can expect a set filled with past hits and selections from Springsteen’s critically acclaimed ‘Wrecking Ball’ album.
Hard Rock Calling has taken place in London’s Hyde Park in years past, but this year marks the event’s first time in its new home venue in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Other acts confirmed for 2013 include the Black Crowes and Alabama Shakes.
