A Casper man pleaded guilty to stabbing another man during an argument in February.

Bradley Davis entered the plea to one count of aggravated assault during a hearing before Natrona County District Court Judge Catherine Wilking on Thursday.

In exchange for the plea, prosecutors will seek a prison term of between four years and six years, Assistant District Attorney Mike Schafer said.

Public Defender Kurt Infanger, who represents Davis, agreed with the terms.

Davis will need to make restitution, but the amount remains to be resolved, they said.

If the case had gone to trial and a jury convicted Davis, he could have faced a prison term of up to 10 years and/or a $10,000 fine.

Wilking said the court is not bound by the agreement between the prosecution and defense.

The case began on Feb. 16 when Davis, who was 22 at the time, was a passenger in his own car. The driver, who was the victim, said they were near Honeysuckle and CY Avenue when Davis started attacking the victim.

Davis was in an argument with his ex-girlfriend earlier that day, and when the victim realized he was driving Davis to the ex-girlfriend’s house, he didn’t stop driving.

Davis started punching the victim in the face.

During his plea, Davis said he reached for an object and it was a box cutter with the blade partially exposed.

The victim, according to court records, drove the car to a convenience store, got out and ran away. The clerk at the store saw Davis lay down a box cutter.

Davis told police he thought the victim was stealing the car, and admitted to punching and using an object that cut the victim.

Police also detected an odor of alcohol on Davis.

Davis remains free on $10,000 bond. His sentencing date will be set later.
