For the Kelly Walsh Trojans it was a must win Friday night. They didn't want to start out the season 0-3. The Trojans (1-2) had to practice differently this past week to face a Rock Springs (0-3) team that utilizes something a little strange in high school football in the double-wing offense. So the Trojans were forced to change their defense, switching from their traditional 3-5 front to a 5-3 and even a 5-5 at times in Friday’s 29-8 road victory. Rock Springs didn't phase the Trojans. “I can see it being pretty hard to defend. We just nailed it all week," linebacker Keegan Hornby said. "We knew what we were going up against. It’s smash-mouth football and they really come and hit you in the mouth. You just have to be really physical, do your job." Huge win for the Trojans.

The NCHS Mustangs just continued to roll. Literally. Rolling over a Laramie team at home 61-3. Natrona County (3-0) had opened the game with 44 consecutive points before Laramie (1-2) finally got on the board with its lone score of the night, a 32-yard field goal by Plainsmen kicker Colton Wostenberg. A shock to most at the game was when junior Matt Benardis, a member of Natrona County's punt return team and a backup on defense, was put under center to bleed the clock for the final six minutes of the fourth quarter.
