When Boeing was looking for a place to test land it's massive 787 Dreamliner in the wind, Cheyenne was naturally a good option.

The decision to use Cheyenne Regional Airport for crosswind landings and takeoffs actually started in 2011 when the Dreamliner was first introduced for commercial flights. Boeing did several test flights in late March that year, giving residents and aviation enthusiasts a unique show over town.

The Dreamliner's first flight was in 2009, and went into commercial use with United Airlines, Japan Airlines, Qatar Airways, and All Nippon Airways in 2011.

It seats up to 335 passengers and according to Boeing is 20% more fuel efficent than it's 767 thanks to it's makeup of composite material.
